RE: Help: Electrical Problems

Hi Cents,
Making the assumption that the genset is a diesel, I think there is a fuel shutoff valve that is held open by 12 volts. If your battery is too low it will not keep the generator running. I believe this is why the generator would run as long as the engine was running.
I could be wrong, though.
As far as the batteries going down, any number of things can happen. Dead cells can occur over the space of a day and kill the remaining cells in the battery. Another reason might be saprophytic loads you may not have shut down. Again, just a guess.
The only sure fire way to know what is happening is with a quality battery monitor. With an in-line shunt it will tell you how much is going in and out of your battery whether or not it is disconnected.
Hope this helps and good luck.

RE: Southern Alabama Campgrounds

I feel you pain ss573, I too am weak willed when the servers keep bringing more food to put on your plate.
The original Lambert's is here in Missouri in Sikeston and we always make a point of stopping anytime we're on I-55.
Thanks for the info. The DW and I may have to stop in next time we are through.
I'll have to do a little starvin' beforehand though...... :S

RE: Southern Alabama Campgrounds

Don't forget to eat at Lambert's Restaurant, Home of the Throwed Rolls. If you're looking for great take out BBQ check out Down South BBQ just off county road 10. Both are in Foley. Have fun.
Oh man!!!!!
I hurt myself at Lamberts last time I was there. It is not for the "weak willed" :B

RE: Ideas for Small Southern Town with Central CG

We just returned from Clear Springs campground. It is in the Homochitto National Forest about 20 miles from Natchez MS. It is very quiet with miles of hiking trails and a lake. I will post some photos as soon as I can get them uploaded. With Natchez not too far away, and Vidalia just across the river, we had a great time. The campground is about 135 miles from Baton Rouge.

RE: Which one ... Topsail, Camping on the Gulf, Emerald, Navarre

DW and I have been to CotG and Topsail but not the other two. CotG was a little on the expensive side (for us) @ $50.00 per night and a little tight. Topsail is very nice and I don't think anyone who has been there will disagree. It's more isolated than the others but if you have other transportation, not too bad, just a couple of miles outside of Destin. Topsail has a private beach and the grounds are very clean.
CotG is right on the beach but the waterfront sites don't have some hookups but I can't remember which. We were in one of the sites just off the beach with full hookups and had a good view of the water, around the big rigs on the beach sites that is. :S
Hope this helps,
Glenn

RE: Help desperately needed

Thanks for all your responses. I knew it was a long shot but thought I might give the forum a try as I have had good luck in times past. As it turns out, CC looked in their engineering section and found not 1 but 70 such pumps they did not know they had. They were apparently purchased for a line of coach that was canceled sometime ago and then the pumps were forgotten, they don't use this pump now.
The pump manufacturer said they could build one from scratch but it would have taken two weeks to get it to them.
Again,
Thanks for your responses,
Glenn

RE: Help desperately needed

Hi Deen,
The pump drives the engine cooling fan.
Itsalleasy,
They are at Mid-South Cummins in St Louis. I don't know what conversations were had but I must assume that these are specialty items. If an alternative pump could be made to work, that would be great which is my question. If you're familiar with this particular situation I know he would appreciate a suggestion as to which pump would work. I trust that Mid-South would have if they knew of one.
Thanks anyhow,
Glenn

Help desperately needed

Hi All,
This is for my brother-in-law who is stuck in St Louis. He and my sister have a 2004 Country Coach Intrigue, Cat C-13 (525hp) and Allison MH4000 transmission with PTO. The problem is with the hydraulic pump for the engine cooling fan. The pump shaft which couples to the PTO has chewed all of the splines into dust. There was grease in the housing but it looks like the grease was slung off of the shaft. This is the second time this has happened to them with Country Coach, the other was a '97 Intrigue (power steering pump that time). They were told the first time it happened that those pumps "just don't break" so there were no parts sitting on shelves.
The pump is a Sauer-Danfoss and is (according to CC) a CC proprietary part and there is not one anywhere in the country to be had.
Question to the forum:
Has anyone run into this and is there an alternative part that can be used?
The pump part number is:
CPC045R2AB-BC
There is another number not identified:
CPC1041
They are in need of suggestions and if anyone can help please either post here or PM me. I and they will be eternally grateful for any assistance.
Thanks in advance for any information.

RE: Your Favorite Boondocking Pics

Here we are at Desert View, Grand Canyon. It is a campground but no services so maybe it somewhat qualifies as boondocking? :h Anyway, it was quiet and great views.

We love boondocking but work just gets in the way most of the time. Love all the great pictures. I'll see what else I can dig up.
